On the Road
It has been surprisingly hard to keep up with this blog the last couple of weeks. On July 2nd we turned in our papers to complete our summer class and hopped on an airplane to begin our journey of raising support.
Our next stop was Richmond Virginia to meet with another missions committee. This meeting was so encouraging and we enjoyed dinner with friends in downtown Richmond at Bottoms Up. We were also blessed by the hospitality of a family from the church. As we talk to people about the ministry that we are planning to do we have been so amazed at how each person has a passion for a different part of God's kingdom. This particular couple has a love for Scotland and it was a joy to talk about our passions together. The next day we met with a woman who has been working with Third Culture Kids for years and we gained a lot of wisdom and insight from our meeting with her.
The pizza at Bottom's Up was great and so was the company. Thanks Jenna and Tim for your support and care for us!
On our way to Suffolk, VA after Richmond we stopped in Williamsburg for a few hours. It was a hot and tiring few hours for sure! Here we are in front of the Old Capitol Building!
After Williamsburg we drove down to spend a few days with Lindsey's college friend Hayden and her family. Hayden has just come off the field herself so she has been very encouraging to us. We were welcomed into the Hill's home with open arms and had a great time relaxing for a few days. On Thursday we decided to go to Virginia beach to enjoy the sun and waves. It was definitely relaxing but we are sure feeling it now. We were both terribly sunburned and are still feeling the pain!
We are currently sitting in a Caribou Coffee in Cary, NC. This area has a lot of meaning to both of us because we fell in love in Cary! In 2004 we interned at Peace Presbyterian Church with their youth ministry. Even though the summer was only ten weeks long the people at Peace became like family, and we are so excited to be back to visit and share with everyone about our work with GYFM! A family has graciously offered to host two desserts for us and we have a number of meals with different families and friends! We will also be speaking at church and teaching Sunday School. Despite the sunburn Drew will be keeping his tradition of 6 a.m. mountain biking with a good friend tomorrow morning.
Please continue to pray for us on this last leg of our trip. The Lord has been so faithful so far and we truly feel that we are gaining a family of supporters who are interested in partnering with us as we reach the nations and the next generation through GYFM!
We are now on the search for:
Drew and Linds
Our first stop was in Annapolis, Maryland which is where Drew's family lives. We were able to have meetings with two churches, speak in three services on Sunday morning, teach Sunday School, and host a BBQ. We were so encouraged with people's response about our ministry with GYFM and left feeling like we made some great contacts. It looks like we might be returning to Annapolis in September to speak with one of the churches again! Praise the Lord! We were also able to enjoy the Fourth of July watching the fireworks from the boat in downtown Annapolis.
